From the President's Desk . . . .

Dear Members,

After taking over it is heartening to see full house in first managing committee meeting held on 26th February 2008. Some of our senior members told me that after few decades they have seen this kind of attendance in AIPMA’s board room where there was not inch of place left even for movement. This meeting was attended by more than 55 people & it’s a record by itself. It shows commitment of members to work together on common platform for the cause of industry.

During this meeting we had also interacted with offi ce bearers of Plastindia foundation on “How to make India s preferred sourcing hub”. During our interaction we had given our views on subject & few suggestions. We recommended that Indian plastic industry should have presence in market places like USA, Europe, Middle East, Africa & other such developed & developing market. We should go after this market aggressively rather than waiting for them to come to us. Our analyst & business development team in these offi ces should give us regular input on market dynamics which can be useful to our processers & product manufactures. In second stage we can have supply chain management in place so customers can be fed in time. This is similar strategy which china had deployed when they were entering these markets. Over & above this we need to give information & do knowledge up gradation of our manufactures in respect of standards & specifi cation of exportable products privileging in respective market & also information on barriers & restriction these markets are having to protect their local industries. As all of us know that scale of operation (compare with China) is against us at this moment. To offset this we should have Custer approach. Once we identify product & market for export then group of manufactures can be together to service this market.

Plastic industry is fortunate to have strong home market. If this combines with export opportunity then we will be able to grow at much faster rate than anticipated.

At AIPMA we will do our best to fuel this growth by advocating usefulness of plastic in all spear of human life & infrastructure development.

Thanking you.......
